Description: There are several challenges in development of software for distributed embedded systems, one of the major differences compared to standard PC software is that it is harder to observe, test, and debug embedded systems. Companies working with these types of systems typically build a test-bench, consisting of the same type of hardware that are being used in the target system, combined with additional electronics and software that enables more observation possibilities, and provides means to generate test stimuli to the system. However, the test-bench is often very expensive, and all developers have to share the same bench.

CCSimTech is a toolbox that enables execution of distributed embedded systems in a single PC / Windows environment through replacement of hardware dependencies with simulated software equivalencies. Using this toolbox makes it easier to start software development even before the target-hardware or test-benches are available, and developers can test their own software in parallel on their own PC using powerful tools available for PC platforms.

This thesis aims at developing software for controlling a simulation session using CCSimTech on the Windows platform. The result should be a set of software components that can be used as building blocks when constructing simulation control-panels. A simulation control-panel should be capable of starting-stopping simulations, and display debug messages from the simulation.
