Title: Master Thesis: Framework for Evaluation of Test Effort in Industrial Software Development

Description: Software testing is generally considered to be one of the more resource-consuming software development activities. However, testing is not a homogenous activity, but is comprised of a number of different sub-activities performed on different levels of development by different roles in the software development organization. Without knowledge of test effort distribution between these categories, it is hard to find suitable and efficient means of improvement.

The goal of this thesis is to present a general framework for evaluation of test effort in industrial software development. The thesis should:
a) Survey the research state-of-the-art in
1. Similar evaluation methods and frameworks
2. Test effort estimation and related topics
b) Based on current industrial practice in software testing, find suitable categorizations of different test activities (e.g., test levels, test techniques, etc…) that are relevant for test effort evaluation.
c) Describe, step-by-step, how to perform a test effort evaluation in an industrial software development organization.

The expected result of the thesis is the thesis report
