|Title:||A Software Engineering approach to Network Administration|
Currently tools available provide network monitoring for a well
established enterprise network. There is no tool for network resource management i.e, an ERP for an organization which will control all the resources from a single control point.
By introducing software engineering principles (design, change
management and validation), thinking of a network in terms of a
system having resources and policies becomes feasible. Such
thinking allows control of the network from a central system.
This thesis work deals with organizing all the resources in a better fashion.
The aim of the project is to create a system for network design and
maintenance i.e, network management and not monitoring. The design is expected to have the following features :
1. Change tracking
3. Minimal hard coding
6. Cost effectiveness
The study will be done with GNU/Linux system as the base platform.
