Bachelor and Master Theses

Title: Designing Mobile Ambient Applications
Subject: Computer Science
Level: Advanced
Description: This work is inspired by the will to explore the Android platform and all its potential in delivering a great user experience to the Smartphone user. The focus of the thesis is on creating a proactive mobile application that works with real-time dynamic data, communicating with web services. The thesis focuses on the power of location-based systems that will enable the application to react on certain events in the real world and notify the user accordingly. The primary goal of the application is to inform the user about available facilities like restaurants and events in his proximity. Secondarily the user will be able to look for ATM machines, gas stations etc. In addition the user will have the possibility of leaving feedback to other users by rating and commenting facilities and events, in that way creating the best possible user experience. The thesis will focus on client-part application.

The thesis will consist of three parts – a theoretical, implementation, and its portability analysis.

The first part of the thesis will include an overview of the mobile technologies including typical design solutions, communication protocols and similar. Different technologies and portability possibilities of a client application will be discussed.

The second part of the thesis will include the requirements specifications, the design (architectural and the detail design) followed by instructions for using the software

The third part will take focus on analyzing the portability and reuse potential of the produced code regarding other mobile platforms like iOS, Windows mobile and BlackBerry.
