Title: Enhancing the Monitoring of Real-Time Performance in Linux

Description: In schedulability analysis, timing properties of real-time tasks are taken into account to evaluate the feasibility of a task set in terms of their timing constraints. However, the actual behavior of the tasks on the execution platform can deviate due to several reasons. This can lead to issues such as execution time overruns or deadline misses which in turn violate the analysis results. Therefore, there needs to be mechanisms at the platform level to monitor the system for such events and enforce the timing constraints of tasks.

The goal of this thesis work is to:
- evaluate capabilities of Linux (i.e., RTLinux) for real-time systems,
- identify mechanisms for monitoring and enforcement of real-time constraints,
- and implement extensions for managing real-time events.


This thesis is suggested for two students.
