Title: Design and implementation of a MLFQ scheduler for the Bacula backup software

Description: The work of thesis concerns the development of a scheduler algorithm for the open source software Bacula

Currently, Bacula uses static schedules where jobs are queued at preset times. In case of normal usage of the system the current scheduler performs well, but in particular situations its
behavior is not completely satisfactory. In case of heavy load or long backups, the scheduler does not consider the specific importance of jobs, and important jobs might be delayed for unacceptably long periods (strategy applied is is first come first
served). If the system goes temporarily down, the scheduler is not recovered, but it will start over again, therefore
losing the jobs that were scheduled prior and during the time the system was down.

The new scheduler policy will involve a dynamic strategy to replace the current scheduler.
