The project Tile Robot (Ti-Bot) intends to become a simulation framework for autonomous vehicles that communicate for decentralized control of their actions. Message passing among vehicles takes a lot less time than actual maneuvers like braking and accelerating. The common resource among vehicles is the driving space. A vehicle communicates its position together with a safety-envelope according to its speed and direction to other vehicles. Together they plan their routes.
The thesis comprises three parts,
i) the simulation framework (a non-graphical simulation including model definition with discretized quadratic and hex fields and discretized time, and message propagation, localized via filters),
ii) the implementation of route planning strategies, and
iii) a fault-injector impacting messages and delaying driving maneuvers.
