Music

I am very fond of music and play the piano myself: primarily jazz, classical music, and gospel (with the gospel choir Veni Vidi Canti). I played keyboard in the band Regal Request and even earlier in Fåraherden Music. I have built a “magsynth” I like to play solos on.

I appreciate music that forces you to listen actively, music that is fun to listen to, but I also have a particular weakness for beautiful music, such as the slow movements in symphonies and some so-called “new age” music. I like a lot of different types of music, and am always interested in discovering new artists and bands; however if I have to list some long-lasting favorites they would probably be: Genesis (during the seventies), Mike Oldfield (Amarok and QE2 are probably my favorites), Frank Zappa (not everything by him either), Peter Gabriel, Tomas Di Leva, Vangelis, Yellowjackets, Esbjörn Svensson Trio (E.S.T.), and Weather Report (especially their slow, beautiful pieces). Favorite classical composers are Bach, Fauré, Mahler, Sibelius, and Pärt.

Trekking

I also enjoy being in the nature a lot, particularly trekking in the mountains (“fjällen”).

Literature

Sitting in the couch with a mug of tea and good music playing in the background while reading is a true pleasure! Some favorite authors are: Haruki Murakami, Erlend Loe, Selma Lagerlöf, Torgny Lindgren, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, J. R. R. Tolkien. I never quite abandoned children literature, so I still enjoy a lot for example the Chronicles of Narnia (by C.S. Lewis), the moomin trolls (by Tove Jansson), Momo and Neverending Story (Michael Ende), Donald Duck comics, especially those signed Carl Barks, and the Tintin comics (Hergé). When you get children, you can experience them for the first time once again!

Painting

From time to time I draw and paint. My favorite painters are Vincent van Gogh and Francisco Goya.
