Title: Implementing a Digital Twin for FESTO Cyber-Physical Factory in Accordance with ISO 23247: challenges and solutions
Subject: Computer science, Embedded systems, Software engineering
Level: Basic, Advanced
Description:

In the rapidly evolving landscape of manufacturing and industrial automation, the concept of a digital twin has emerged as a transformative technology. This thesis proposal aims to develop a digital twin for the Festo Cyber-Physical Factory (CP-F) in accordance with the ISO 23247: Digital Twin Framework in manufacturing. This research project will delve into investigating details of the Festo CP-F in order to create a high-fidelity digital replica that mimics its real-world counterpart in both physical and operational aspects. We anticipate advancing our understanding of digital twin technology and its practical applications in industrial settings. Developing a digital twin in accordance with existing standards will allow us to identify open challenges and propose solutionsultimately, contributing to a more robust and intelligent approach to manufacturing processes.

The student will have the opportunity to visit the smart production lab at MITC in Eskilstuna to have firsthand experience and insights into the Festo CP-F
