Title: Distributed functionality allocation to multicore computational nodes
Subject: Embedded systems, Computer science, Robotics, Software engineering
Level: Advanced
Description:

Background

One of the current trends in the machinery domain is the shift towards Zonal Architecture (ZA). The ZA aims to reduce the number of ECUs in the product by consolidating the allocation of traditionally distributed functionalities. Allocation of functionality or its part within one multicore ECU raises additional requirements for the inter-ECU communication, mostly in terms of bandwidth and latency. There is also an aspect of different partitioning of one ECU having different safety levels, which brings additional complexity. The idea of this thesis proposal is to investigate such allocation from the perspective of inter-ECU communication.

Task and eventual goal with the thesis work.

-       Survey of analyses of functionality allocation to multicore ECUs;

-       Specification of HW parameters required for allocation optimization;

-       Applying analysis on a VCE-provided use case;

-       Recommendations for SW development given multicore paradigm.
