Title: Production simulation and optimization in collaboration with Leax
Subject: Produktion, Produktutveckling, Industrial Systems
Level: Advanced
Description:

Problem description:

Need to evaluate and understand the current operational efficiency of a critical production cell at LEAX Mekaniska in Köping to identify potential areas for optimization.

Overall Objective:

Develop a detailed simulation of the production cell using Visual Components software to analyze performance, identify inefficiencies, and explore optimization opportunities.

Research questions:

-What is the achievable Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in the current state of the production cell?

-Which machine or operation is the bottleneck or key factor in determining the cell’s productivity?

-What three actions could significantly enhance the output and efficiency of the cell?

-What resources and technologies are required to concert the simulation model tino a fully functional digital twin?

Evaluation metrics:

-Accuracy of the simulation model in representing the real-world performance of the production cell.

-Improvement in OEE after implementing the simulation findings.

-Reduction in cycle times and downtime based on simulated optimizations.

-Effectiveness of the proposed solutions in reducing bottlenecks and improving overall output.

Envisaged solution:

Create a comprehensive simulation model of the production cell that reflects its current state, allowing for scenario analysis and the identification of efficiency improvements. This model will serve as the foundation for potential future development into a digital twin.
